Physical properties

Color

The name directly reflects the difference. White tungsten wire contains tungsten trioxide, and its appearance is white or light yellow-white; black tungsten wire is a single substance of metallic tungsten, and its color is dark gray to black.

Melting point

The melting point of metallic tungsten is quite high, reaching 3422℃, so black tungsten wire can withstand high temperatures; the melting point of tungsten trioxide is much lower, about 1473℃, which means that white tungsten wire may soften and deform at a lower temperature.

Conductivity

As a metal, black tungsten wire has good conductivity, which allows it to smoothly conduct current in some electrical components that need to be powered on to generate heat and light; white tungsten wire is an oxide and has poor conductivity, so it is generally not used in conductive scenarios.
