Gr23 titanium wire is Ti-6Al-4V ELI (Extra Low Interstitial), which is often confused with Grade 5. The key difference lies in the forging process: Gr5 undergoes only one pass of forging and drawing to remove impurities such as carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen, iron, and oxygen. In contrast, medical-grade Gr23 requires three passes of forging and drawing, resulting in significantly fewer impurities in the titanium billets. Notably, the oxygen content is reduced from 0.20% to 0.13%, minimizing interatomic gaps and ensuring compliance with medical application requirements. The impact of different element contents on the final product performance is explained as follows:
O: Oxygen enhances alloy strength, but excessive oxygen reduces toughness and increases brittleness.
N: Excessive nitrogen increases alloy brittleness and impairs fatigue resistance.
C: Carbon improves the weldability of the alloy.
Fe: Iron affects corrosion resistance and biocompatibility.
H: Hydrogen must be strictly controlled to prevent hydrogen embrittlement.
Quality control
We implement a rigorous quality control process. All products undergo a series of tests, including chemical composition testing and mechanical property testing, and we only supply products that fully comply with ASTM F136 standards.
For the packaging of Gr23 titanium wire, we use wooden cases lined with foam to prevent product damage caused by collisions during transportation, ensuring smooth delivery.
