Products Advantages

Ultra-high purity and stable performance

The main content (tantalum element) of the 0.76 mm Ta1 tantalum sheet is not less than 99.95%, and the content of metal impurities such as iron, silicon, nickel, chromium, titanium, tungsten, molybdenum, and interstitial elements such as carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and hydrogen is strictly controlled. This precise control of chemical composition ensures that the material has stable and excellent comprehensive properties and avoids the adverse effects of impurities on plasticity, toughness, and corrosion resistance. The extremely high purity gives it significant advantages in fields such as electronics, semiconductors, and chemicals that require extremely high purity of materials.

Excellent corrosion resistance

The corrosion resistance of tantalum is second only to platinum among metal materials. The 0.76 mm Ta1 tantalum sheet has extremely high corrosion resistance to almost all inorganic acids (including aqua regia), organic acids, salt solutions and liquid metals, and will only be corroded in very few media, such as hydrofluoric acid, hot concentrated alkali, and fuming sulfuric acid. This excellent corrosion resistance comes from the dense protective film of tantalum pentoxide (Ta₂O₅) naturally formed on the surface of tantalum. Ta1 tantalum sheets are extremely reliable corrosion-resistant materials in highly corrosive environments such as the chemical industry, pharmaceuticals, and hydrometallurgy.

Outstanding high temperature performance

Tantalum has a melting point as high as 2996°C, making it one of the metals with the highest melting point, second only to tungsten and rhenium. Ta1 can still maintain sufficient strength and shape stability in a vacuum or an inert atmosphere below 1500°C. At the same time, tantalum has a low thermal expansion coefficient (6.5×10⁻⁶/°C) and strong thermal shock resistance, making it very suitable for use in high-temperature-resistant devices such as heating elements, heat shields, and heaters in high-temperature vacuum furnaces.

Excellent processing and molding performance

Ta1 tantalum has good plasticity and ductility in the annealed state, and the elongation can reach 30%-40%. Very thin plates can be rolled without intermediate annealing in the cold state. The thickness of 0.76mm not only retains sufficient structural strength but also has good processing properties such as bending, stamping, and welding, allowing users to perform secondary processing according to specific needs.

Good biocompatibility

Tantalum is non-toxic and non-irritating to human tissues, is not corroded by body fluids, and can combine well with bones and soft tissues. This characteristic makes Ta1 tantalum thin plates have unique application value in the field of medical implants, and can be used to manufacture medical devices such as bone plates, skull repair plates, and dental implants.

High density and good electrical and thermal conductivity

The density of Ta1 is about 16.65 g/cm³, which is about 2 times that of steel and 6 times that of aluminum. It also has good electrical and thermal conductivity and performs well in applications such as electronic components and heat dissipation components.

Why choose 0.76mm thickness?

In the product specification system of Ta1 tantalum sheet, 0.76mm is a carefully considered thickness choice that is both technically rational and economical. This thickness is different from ultra-thin tantalum foils below 0.1mm, and medium-thick tantalum plates above 2.0mm, but achieves the optimal balance between performance, processing, and application requirements in multiple dimensions.

From the perspective of standard specifications, according to the classification of tantalum and tantalum alloy plates, strips and foils according to the GB/T 3629-2017 standard, products with thicknesses between 0.5mm and 0.8mm belong to strip/sheet specifications. 0.76mm is located exactly in the middle and upper position of this range, and the allowable thickness deviation is ±0.04mm (first-level accuracy), which is within the high-precision controllable range. This thickness specification has clear technical requirements and quality inspection specifications in domestic and foreign standards, ensuring product traceability and quality consistency.

From the perspective of the balance between mechanical properties and structural strength, the thickness of 0.76mm provides sufficient structural stiffness for the Ta1 tantalum sheet, making it less likely to deform when subjected to mechanical loads. The tensile strength of Ta1 in the annealed state is 200-350 MPa, and the yield strength is 150-250 MPa. The cross-section thickness of 0.76mm can effectively bear the stress requirements under working conditions such as chemical equipment linings and reactor components, while avoiding material waste and processing difficulties caused by overly thick plates. Compared with thin plates below 0.5mm, 0.76mm thickness provides higher bending strength and impact resistance; compared with thick plates above 1.0mm, it maintains better flexibility and formability.

From the perspective of processing and forming performance, Ta1 tantalum has excellent ductility in the annealed state, with an elongation rate of up to 30%-40%. The thickness of 0.76mm makes the material perform well in cold forming processes such as bending, stamping, deep drawing, and spinning, and can complete the forming of complex shapes without intermediate annealing. At the same time, this thickness also facilitates precision cutting processes such as laser cutting, wire cutting, and punching, as well as welding operations such as tungsten helium arc welding. For end users who need to process tantalum sheets into specific shapes, 0.76mm is a thickness choice with excellent processing efficiency and yield.

From the perspective of corrosion resistance and service life, the corrosion resistance of tantalum comes from the naturally generated tantalum pentoxide (Ta₂O₅) protective film on its surface. The thickness of 0.76mm provides sufficient matrix support for this protective film. Even if the surface is slightly damaged during long-term contact with highly corrosive media, the remaining matrix thickness can still ensure the long-term safe operation of the equipment. Compared with ultra-thin tantalum foil (below 0.1mm), the 0.76mm thickness significantly extends the service life and maintenance cycle of the equipment; compared with thicker plates, it reduces material costs while ensuring corrosion resistance margins.

From a cost-benefit perspective, tantalum, as a rare metal, has a higher market price. The thickness of 0.76mm can meet the application needs of most chemical, electronic, medical, and other fields, while maximizing the use of precious metal materials and helping customers effectively control procurement costs while ensuring product quality. For enterprise customers purchasing in bulk, this thickness specification achieves the best balance between weight per unit area (approximately 12.65 kg/m²) and material cost.

From the perspective of the breadth of application adaptability, the 0.76mm Ta1 tantalum sheet can cover multiple high-end application scenarios ranging from chemical anti-corrosion equipment linings, electron sputtering target back plates, medical implants to vacuum furnace heat shielding. The versatility and adaptability of this thickness make it the preferred specification in many industries. It is also one of our most fully stocked and fastest-delivered standard products.

To sum up, 0.76mm is an ideal thickness choice in the Ta1 tantalum sheet product line that combines technical rationality, processing convenience, durability, and economy, and can maximize the comprehensive demand for tantalum materials in diversified industrial applications.
