1. Powder metallurgy sintering: Obtain molybdenum billet.


2. Forging densification: Improve density, mechanical properties, and reduce pores; (Forged molybdenum > Sintered molybdenum, the lifespan gap is significant)


3. CNC machining: Precision machining of the outer circle of the rod, one end processed with external threads to ensure thread assembly accuracy.


4. Grinding and oil removal: Remove processing oil stains and burrs.


5. Inspection: Dimensional, appearance, flaw detection, and internal cracks and pores check.

 

Core points to focus on during purchase

 

1. Material grade and density
Prioritize forging MO1, with a density that must meet the standard; ordinary sintered molybdenum has a low density and many pores, and the electrode will quickly bulge and break when exposed to glass melt.

 

2. Thread processing accuracy
The thread is the receiving force and conductive part. Poor tolerance will make assembly difficult, and the contact resistance will increase, causing overheating and burning damage during operation.

 

3. Dimensional tolerance: Diameter, total length, thread specification, thread segment length, must match the installation dimensions of the kiln furnace.

 

4. Purity indicators (oxygen content is particularly critical)
High oxygen content makes the electrode prone to oxidation and powdering under high-temperature conditions, significantly reducing the electrode lifespan.

 

5. Surface quality: No cracks, scratches, pores, or folding defects. Small cracks will rapidly expand and fail at high temperatures.

 

6. Actual working condition parameters: Glass type, working temperature, current load, to match the appropriate diameter grade.

 

7. Delivery cycle: Large-diameter forged molybdenum electrode production cycle is long and will be longer than the conventional size production cycle.

 

Points to note during procurement

 

1. ❌ Pit 1: Low-cost sintered molybdenum imitates forged molybdenum electrodes
Sintered molybdenum has a low cost and many internal pores, and will be damaged in a short period. When purchasing, be sure to confirm: forging process, density ≥ 10.15 g/cm³

 

2. ❌ Pit 2: Excessive impurity oxygen content

 

3. ❌ Pit 3: Rough thread processing, non-compliant tolerance
The thread tooth shape is not standard, and it cannot be installed on site or has poor contact and overheating and burning damage; provide thread drawings when placing an order, clearly define the thread standard.

 

4. ❌ Pit 4: Only focus on diameter, ignoring the effective working length
Total length, the effective length buried in the glass melt, thread segment length are incorrect, and it will be impossible to assemble on site. Must provide complete drawings, do not just report the diameter.

 

5. ❌ Pit 5: Ignore transportation protection
Molybdenum electrode rods are long and the threads are prone to damage, and the threads are damaged, the entire electrode will be scrapped; The manufacturer should provide protective sleeves for the threads and use shock-proof packaging for the wooden boxes.

 

6. ❌ Pit 6: Select specifications without confirming the working conditions

The corrosion degree of different glass formulas varies greatly, and the lifespan of the same diameter electrodes differs significantly. It is necessary to inform the supplier of the kiln furnace conditions to facilitate the recommendation of specifications.

 

7. ❌ Pit 7: No factory inspection upon arrival
Upon receiving the goods, check the diameter, total length, threads, and appearance, and check for minor cracks; if possible, conduct density sampling to avoid defective products being directly put into the kiln furnace and causing production halt losses.
