    Zr60702 bar/rod always known as Zr702 zirconium bar/rod which is a kind of pure zirconium bar/rod with excellent corrosion-resistance and high-strength performance and widely applied in nuclear industry, chemical equipment and other environments required high-temperature and high-pressure. As the cladding material for nuclear reactor, zr60702 zirconium bar/rod performed the extraordinary resistance to oxidization and radio-resistance. Beside that, zr60702 zirconium bar/rod also have the great mechanical properties so that it can stay durable on the high-temperature environment.

The manufacturing technique procedure of zr60702 zirconium bar/rod including raw material purification, melting, mechanical process, precision shaping, surface treatment and quality inspection and so on, the detailed information is as below:

    The basic raw material is zirconium ore, the ZrCl₄ would be obtained after high-temperature chlorination and then magnesio -thermic reduction produce the zirconium sponge with the purity 99.6%. Subsequently,vacuum distillation technology employed to remove the impurities such as MgCl₂, Mg etc resulting the material with O of ≤500ppm and Hardness of ≤100HB.

    Suppressing the sponge zirconium into electrode and obtain the uniformly composed zirconium ingot after twice melting in the Vacuum self-consuming electrode arc furnace. And the content of more than 20 kinds of impurities such as Hf, B shall be strictly controlled to make sure the nuclear stable performance as for the nuclear-level zr60702 zirconium bar/rod.

     Hot-rolling and forging: the zirconium ingots rolled into billets suitable for industrial use zirconium bar/rod. And the mechanical property shall be promoted by die forging process for refining grain size to guarantee it could be applied for the setting with higher requirements.

     Cold-rolling: To precise the surface treatment through the technology of cold-rolling or cold-drawing and make sure the toughness is of ≤Ra0.8μm and control the processing specifications such as deformation amount, heat treatment temperature and so on before the final product released to optimize the corrosion-resistance and mechanical properties.

     Cold-rolling can be used to manufacture the zirconium bar/rod with high precision and diameter between 1mm-350mm(Φ1-Φ350mm)and the tolerance should be controlled within ±0.02mm. As for the deformed section items, like square, hexagonal etc which can be accomplished through mold extrusion or CNC machine processing.

    To avoid the reaction between zirconium with gases such as oxygen, nitrogen release brittle compound, the inert gases should be employed when processed with high temperature, like argon shield.

    The ultrasonic flaw detection, X-ray inspection and other measurements shall be taken to guarantee the Zr60702 zirconium rod/bar free of cracks pores and defects. And the nuclear zirconium bar/rod needs to meet the standards of ASME IX to test the strength of welding seam and the index of corrosion of resistance.
