I. Product Overview

Gr23 Dental Discs are core materials specifically designed for dental CAD/CAM digital processing. Through precision milling, they can be used to fabricate oral restorations such as crowns, bridges, and implant-supported superstructures. These products are supplied in a non-sterile state and are machined from commercially pure titanium or titanium alloys that comply with the GB/T 13810-2017 standard ("Wrought titanium and titanium alloys for surgical implants"). Thanks to their excellent biocompatibility, corrosion resistance, suitable mechanical properties, and comprehensive processing characteristics, titanium and titanium alloys are currently the most advantageous biomedical metal materials.

II. Materials and Classification

Based on material composition, titanium and titanium alloy dental discs are primarily categorized into two types: commercially pure titanium discs and titanium alloy discs.

1. Commercially Pure Titanium Discs

These are primarily made from commercially pure titanium; product grades include TA1 and TA2 (Chinese National Standard) as well as GR1 and GR2 (ASTM Standard). Commercially pure titanium discs feature a titanium matrix with extremely low impurity levels. For TA2, maximum impurity limits are: Iron 0.30%, Carbon 0.10%, Nitrogen 0.05%, Hydrogen 0.008%, and Oxygen 0.25%. Characterized by high purity, low impurity content, excellent biocompatibility, and good toughness, these discs are mainly suitable for removable frameworks and full-contour metal crowns. Titanium content can reach up to 99.9%.

2. Titanium Alloy Discs

These are made from alloy materials composed of titanium and other elements (primarily aluminum and vanadium); product grades include TC4 and TC4ELI (Chinese National Standard) as well as GR5 and GR5ELI/GR23 (ASTM Standard). TC4 titanium alloy features a titanium matrix with an aluminum content of 5.5%–6.75% and a vanadium content of 3.5%–4.5%. Maximum impurity limits are: Iron 0.30%, Carbon 0.08%, Nitrogen 0.05%, Hydrogen 0.008%, and Oxygen 0.20%. Gr23 Dental Disc offers superior strength and toughness, making it suitable for restorations subjected to extremely high stress-such as removable partial dentures, clasps, thin veneer crowns, long-span or small-cross-section bridges, bars, attachments, and implant superstructures.

3. Product Forms

Titanium and titanium alloy dental discs primarily come in two shapes: round discs and square discs. Common specifications for round discs include a diameter of 98 mm and thicknesses ranging from 10 to 25 mm; square discs are available in various sizes, such as 150×140 mm, 203×143 mm, and 220×150 mm. Custom specifications and dimensions are also available upon request.
