Products Description
When selecting piping materials for high-temperature vacuum and special atmosphere processes, sintered molybdenum pipe stands out from rolled molybdenum tubes, ceramic tubes and superalloy pipes, thanks to its unique microstructure formed by powder metallurgy sintering. It is the preferred option for demanding applications requiring small diameter, tight tolerance and repeated thermal cycling. Many procurement engineers choose sintered molybdenum pipe mainly for its low residual stress, uniform metallographic structure, excellent thermal shock resistance and controllable precise dimensions.
Sintered molybdenum pipe is consolidated from high-purity molybdenum powder at elevated temperature, forming a uniform and dense internal structure. Unlike rolled molybdenum products which carry massive residual stress from heavy plastic deformation, sintered pipe has minimal built-in stress. Under repeated heating and cooling cycles, residual stress inside rolled molybdenum tends to release gradually, causing distortion, deformation or cracking, which may trigger equipment shutdown and chamber contamination. Sintering minimizes internal stress from the start. The pipe maintains structural integrity under rapid thermal shock and greatly cuts the risk of pipe failure, ideal for tube furnaces, vacuum heat treatment furnaces and semiconductor chambers requiring long-term stable operation.
This sintered molybdenum pipe with ground finish features OD 6mm, wall thickness 1mm, length 1000mm. The tolerance of inner and outer diameter is ±0.2mm, and length tolerance is ±2mm. Sintering technology has remarkable advantages in manufacturing small-bore thin-wall molybdenum pipe. Compared with rolling, sintering delivers more consistent wall thickness and eliminates local thin areas to guarantee uniform flow channels. Molybdenum has a melting point of 2620℃. It retains sound mechanical strength without softening or creep at 1200℃–2000℃. Its low thermal expansion coefficient leads to tiny dimensional change under heat, perfectly fitting precision assembly requirements.

Low outgassing performance in vacuum is another key advantage of sintered molybdenum pipe. Controlled internal porosity combined with ground finish reduces high-temperature volatiles and particle generation. It will not release excess gas to impair vacuum level and prevents contamination of wafers, glass and sintered samples. Compared with ceramic pipe, sintered molybdenum pipe retains metallic machinability. It can be cut, drilled and end-finished. It is far less brittle and resists cracking from minor impact, offering greater processing flexibility. In contrast to tungsten pipe, sintered molybdenum pipe is easier to machine, more cost-effective and lighter in weight for easier installation and module replacement.
The ground finish surface further improves performance by removing oxide scale, sinter burrs and surface micropores, reducing adhesion of high-temperature media and supporting long-term service under inert protective atmospheres such as hydrogen and argon. Please note that molybdenum oxidizes in air at high temperature, so vacuum or inert atmosphere operation is recommended, which is a common characteristic of refractory metals. Dimensional sampling inspection is conducted for every batch, material test certificates are available and sample testing is supported. With combined merits including low residual stress, thermal shock resistance, tight tolerance, low outgassing and good machinability, sintered molybdenum pipe is a top choice for small-bore piping used in high-temperature vacuum, laboratory research and special process equipment, delivering long-lasting and dependable piping solutions for extreme thermal conditions.
