They are 40% lighter than steel and offer excellent corrosion resistance in air, seawater, chloride ions, and various acid and alkali environments. They can be welded to metal surfaces to add permanent threads. A raised portion on the base concentrates the weld, creates space for heat dissipation, and prevents thread deformation. Titanium hexagonal weld nuts are fasteners specifically designed for welding. Their strength approaches that of steel, yet they're half the weight, resulting in an exceptionally high specific strength. They're also highly corrosion-resistant, rust-resistant in air, seawater, chloride ions, and most acidic and alkaline environments, and their service life far exceeds that of stainless steel nuts. They typically feature a standard hexagonal shape and a weld point or special burr at one end, allowing them to be quickly and permanently fastened to titanium or other metal components through metal fusion methods such as resistance welding or arc welding. This creates a high-strength internal threaded connection, eliminating the risk of thread loosening and stripping while also increasing vibration and fatigue resistance.
Comparison of Common Screw Materials
Grade 1 titanium
Gr1 has the best ductility and can reach a purity of 99.7%, resulting in the best corrosion resistance, and is commonly used in highly corrosive environments.
Grade 2 titanium
Gr2's ductility is not as high as Gr1's, but its purity is generally 99.6%. It offers a balance of corrosion resistance and strength, offering the best value for money.
Grade 5 titanium
Gr5 is a titanium alloy that is the most widely used and offers the best overall performance, though it's slightly more expensive.
